Biography

Zainab Ahmed was born in 1960 in Kaduna State, Nigeria. She studied accounting and business and worked in the private sector and in public finance before entering government. She served as Minister of State for Budget and National Planning and later as Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning under President Muhammadu Buhari, becoming one of the most senior women in Nigerian economic policy.

She has been at the centre of fiscal policy, budget formulation, and negotiations with international financial institutions. She has advocated for fiscal discipline, transparency, and the inclusion of more women in economic leadership.
