Biography

Helen Folasade Adu was born on 16 January 1959 in Ibadan, Nigeria, to a Nigerian father and British mother. She moved to the United Kingdom as a child and later formed the band Sade, which took her name. The band's blend of soul, jazz, and pop produced global hits such as "Smooth Operator", "The Sweetest Taboo", and "No Ordinary Love".
