Biography
Folake Solanke was born in 1932 in Abeokuta, Nigeria. She studied at the University of London and was called to the English Bar before returning to Nigeria. She became the first female Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) in 1981, breaking a major barrier in the Nigerian legal profession.
She has had a long career in law, including in corporate and civil practice, and has been a vocal advocate for women's rights, education, and the rule of law. She has served on numerous boards and committees and has mentored many young lawyers, especially women.
